It’s everywhere and hard to get away from
Once I completed my detox, I decided not to implement specific sugar back into my diet until further notice.
For now, I’m going to see how long I can go.
Years ago, I completed a no-sugar detox for about six months. I might go for that long, or I might cut it short, but for now, I’m enjoying the benefits of not consuming sugar.
What does cutting sugar look like for me:
No candy
No sugary drinks
No desserts (i.e., cookies, donuts, pastries, milkshakes, ice cream, cake, fruit snacks, etc.)
I’m still eating:
Fruit (0.5–2 servings per day)

The 10 Benefits I’ve Noticed Since I Cut Out Sugar
1. Clearer skin
My skin has drastically improved, and my breakouts have dramatically decreased. Will all of your breakouts disappear? Not necessarily – this depends on other factors such as diet, environmental factors, and stress.
But eliminating sugar will definitely cut down the breakouts – no doubt.
2. More energy
Ever experienced sugar crashes? Well, if you eat a little too much sugar, what do you expect?
When you eliminate processed sugar from your diet, you’re eradicating something that slows you down almost 100% of the time unless you remain a relatively active lifestyle, time and moderate your sugar in the right amounts.
3. Tighter waistline
People often ask me how they can get abs. It has almost nothing to do with your workouts but more so your diet.
If you can cut out sugar, you will experience a trimmer waistline, flatter stomach, and more defined abs if you do workout consistently.
4. Fewer sugar cravings
If you’re not eating as much sugar, your body will naturally start to crave it ess. The longer you stay away from sugar, the less your body will desire it – as with any habit. The more you partake of something, the more you will desire it.
5. Increased Mental Clarity
Every notice the brain fog you get when you eat less healthy foods and a lot of sugar? I know I do. When I eat cleaner, my mind is clearer. My thoughts are more productive. My energy is more clarified and light.
Sugar in little to modest amounts is okay, but when you eat too much, it has a tendency of weighing you down.

A side benefit, all those around me who regularly consume sugar can observe a different approach.
Sugar runs our culture. It’s in all of our food, and it’s not going anywhere. One of the primary reasons companies put sugar into everything is because it has addictive qualities that keep you coming back for more as well as other food types that have sugar in them.
