There is no limit to what you can achieve
Consistency is key. It’s cool to publish ten perfect 3+ minute long articles a month, but what’s more, kool is publishing 30 imperfect articles each day. Not only does your writing improve, but so do your audience, pay, and other metrics.
Your work will get declined. A lot of my work has been declined, and guess what I do about it? Submit it elsewhere. It’s not personal when your work is not accepted into a publication; it merely means it is better suited elsewhere.
Reading others’ work is essential. If you’re not reading, you’re not becoming the best writer you could be. Writing daily will help you improve as a writer, but reading and writing daily will maximize your results.
There is no limit to what you can achieve. My goal used to be to publish 365 articles a year. I now do that in 2 months or less. The only limits we have are the ones we live by and set for ourselves. If you want to publish more writing, then do it. Don’t worry if it will offend your subscribers. Just hit that publish button.
Stagnation will occur. Sometimes your writing will suck for weeks, months, or years. I know mine did and still does at times. But I’m not concerned with this. I’m more concerned about consistently writing and publishing because, ultimately, that will bring about consistent results.
Don’t write just for yourself. Don’t get lazy and only write about the things that come easily to you. Right about topics that your audience is asking for. Give the people what they want, but also give the people what you think they might want. Always experiment with both.
Observe the greats. See what the most successful medium authors are doing on the platform and learn from them. But also be sure you do your own thing, too. I was listening to a podcast the other day By Sean Croxton. In the podcast, Diddy said, “We don’t need more Obamas and Oprahs. We need more unique individuals that are going to bring something different.” Don’t be afraid to create new rules, strategies, and playbooks.
Write in multiple genres. If you specialize in finance, that’s great. But you can still expand into other areas of finance such as business, entrepreneurship, start-ups, personal development, economics, digital currency, etc. Don’t get so caught up in writing on one specific topic that you never explore other ones.
Write. If there is anything I’ve learned that I will continue to do more than anything else, that is to write. The more you write, the more success you will inevitably reach as a writer. Just be consistent enough to write. That’s it.
