Your Easy Skin Guide
I put diet as chapter one because this is the easiest way to shift skin outcomes.
What you put in, you’re going to get out. I’m not saying never enjoy sugar, fast food, or your favorite drinks, but everything should be done in moderation, or else you’re skin is going to purge a bunch of shit that you’re routinely consuming.
Clean up your diet, and eat clean at least 60% or more of the time.
If you primarily eat healthy, your skin will respond well and likely be clearer.
Things to consume in moderation:
1. Sugar
2. Alcohol
3. Processed foods
4. Desserts
5. Juices
6. Caffeine
7. Processed snacks
8. Overprocessed meats
9. White grains
10. Unhealthy fats
11. Fried foods
12. Less healthy restaurant food
I think you get the picture.
Here’s how I do it: For the majority of the time, I eat more flexibly, 1–2 days a week. Other times, I eat clean. I deviate from this schedule from time to time, but I always get back on track to ensure I treat my body and skin well.
2. Herbs
I LOVE herbs and use them regularly to help build a more robust immune system and healthier skin.
I do not recommend herbs to anyone, but if you consult a doctor and do your own research, herbs could be your friend.
Here are some of the ones I use to promote healthier skin:
1. Burdock
2. Echinacea
3. Goldenseal
4. Clove
5. Garlic
6. Turmeric
7. Oil of Oreganol
8. DIM
9. Milk Thistle
Before taking any herb, always research and consult with a doctor to ensure you leverage herbs safely.
3. Stress
Stress is one of the biggest causes of acne outside of diet and environmental factors.
If you want to help your skin glow, eliminate as much stress from your life as possible.
You can eliminate stress by setting boundaries with yourself, others, and at work.
You can take a vacations.
You can work out more frequently.
You can stretch.
You can meditate.
You can clean up your diet.
You can shift your mindset.
You can start practicing the art of letting go of things and people that don’t serve you positively.
Just let all the sh*t not helping you go!
De-stress your life.
4. Meditation
Meditation is an easy and sure way to help alleviate stress, which is a common culprit for acne.
Aim to meditate at least 5–15 minutes several times a week.
Focus on deep breathing and letting go of negative energy or stressful thoughts and feelings.
5. Cleanliness
Want to know an easy way to help your skin?
Wash your bedding consistently with gentle soap.
Wash your hands before touching your face.
Never use expired skin products.
Clean your face after working out – the sooner, the better.
Try not to use products that don’t have a pump. In other words, you shouldn’t be constantly dipping your hands in your facial products. Use squeeze bottles and dispensers to keep the products clean.
6. Skin Routine
A few tips I’ve learned along the way:
Avoid harsh products.
Wash your face 2x per day.
Avoid switching your products frequently.
Always wash your hands before touching your face.
Your skin routine matters big time. Consider applying the concept of “Less is More.”
You don’t need a bunch of different skin products. You only need a few to get the job done.
Be sure your products are non-comedogenic and non-irritating for your skin.
7. Greens
I get it; greens aren’t the friendliest of foods, but their benefits are astronomical.
Rewards > pain
The best greens are organic and raw (or lightly cooked).
Get your greens in daily.
How do I get my greens in? Almost every meal, I eat a handful of raw greens (e.g., spinach, arugula, etc.).
Pairing each meal with veggies makes it easier to get in all the greens you need for the day.
My multivitamin also has greens in it; you can never get enough greens!
8. Water Intake
Water is critical. Your skin needs hydration and the ability to flush toxins effortlessly; water helps with both.
Water also helps mitigate stress and maintain healthy energy levels.
Drink water throughout the day and maybe consider ditching the caffeine and sugary drinks; they don’t help the clear skin cause nor promote good health.
9. Activity Levels
Are you staying active and getting the exercise you need?
Getting regular exercise is healthy not only for your mind, body, and emotions but for your skin as well.
Physical activity is a gigantic stress reliever, making you feel hella good!
Stay active and work out frequently.
10. Positive Affirmations
Let’s face it: sometimes, you’re just too focused on your skin, and you need to take a f*ckin chill pill.
Instead of focusing on blemishes, breakouts, and imperfections, focus on positively affirming your skin.
Affirmation statements:
I have clear skin.
I have healthy skin.
I have flawless skin.
I have glowing skin.
I have beautiful skin.
I have even-toned skin.
Imagine yourself with perfect skin 24/7, and act as if you already have perfect skin now.
