The power of optional cardio
of the buildings I’ve been staying in has fifteen flights of stairs. I often enter the building on the fourth floor.
My comrade will frequently take the elevator, and I’ll mention meeting them on floor thirteen to reconvene because I’m taking the stairs.
Do I have to take the stairs? No. In fact, I’m already relatively lean, but I want to keep my heart healthy, strong, and active.
Taking the stairs is one way to do this. Not only does it indirectly encourage my comrade to join me sometimes, which improves their health, but it reminds me how grateful I am to be able to walk. It also gives me a quick lower-body workout.
Taking stairs is usually optional but always rewarding.
