As a writer, you need a steady intake of FRESH content
1. Everyday life
Recently, I wrote the article: Life Is Content, to talk about how easy it is to generate content if you look at your own life. Our everyday experiences are invaluable and need to be shared with others. There are many lessons, ideas, and thoughts worth writing about from your life.
2. Other’s lives
The best way to learn is by watching other people (and reading). I try to learn the hardest lessons from others so I don’t have to go through the school of hard knocks. I share lessons from others’ lives often.
For example, in this story, 8 Lessons From An Inmate Who Lost Everything, these words of wisdom can be implemented immediately. Some of the inmates in the correctional system are there because of one unproductive choice that spiraled into a series of more unproductive choices.
Lessons from others can turn into articles and then books. There is much to learn from one another on this earth.
3. Books
I read a pile of books almost daily. Instead of focusing on one book at a time, I read small sections from a buttload of books at once.
This means I’m intaking a sh*t load of diverse content throughout the week that is constantly feeding my mind novel ideas to write about and share with everyone on medium.
Reading also provides you an opportunity to observe other writing styles and be exposed to new words and ideas.
Where do you get your ideas? Drop your response in the comments. I’m always open to new ideas.
