Step off the sabotage train
At some point, a writer sucks at writing, and some of us never stop sucking at writing, but writing is who we are. It’s what we do. We can’t escape the desire to write.
Ultimately, it doesn’t matter what others think of your writing as long as you are writing to serve your readers and yourself.
2. Procrastination
If you never start, you will never become a better writer and have nothing published.
The best thing to do when you don’t know what to write about or get stuck is to start typing.
3. Overwhelmed
What am I supposed to write about?
Is my writing good enough?
Do I need to pivot my writing strategy?
Am I even supposed to be a writer?
All these are valid questions you don’t need to answer right now.
All you need to do is type what comes to mind and hit publish.
Simplify the process, and you’ll make so much more progress.
4. Comparison
There will always be better and more famous writers than you. There will always be writers skillfully mastering their craft at a faster rate than you. There will always be writers with more successful careers than you.
Don’t get caught up on the comparison train. Learn from the best, and do your best.
Compete only against yourself.
