The bar for the top 10% is embarrassingly low.
Everyone thinks building wealth requires a six-figure salary, a tech job, or getting lucky on crypto.
It doesn’t.
Here’s what it takes to be in the top 10% of net worth for your age:
Under 35: ~$250,000
35–44: ~$750,000
45–54: ~$1,250,000
55–64: ~$2,100,000
And here’s the median – what the average person actually has:
Under 35: $39,000
35–44: $135,600
45–54: $247,200
55–64: $364,500
Look at that gap. The bar isn’t high. Most people just aren’t trying.
Here’s the math that proves it:
Start at 22, invest $500/month at 10% average returns.
By 35, you’re at roughly $130,000 from investing alone.
Add employer 401k match, home equity, and other savings – you’re at or near $250,000.
$500 a month. That’s a car payment most people don’t think twice about.
You don’t need to be a tech millionaire, start a company, or get lucky.
All you have to be is consistent while everyone else is spending everything they earn.
