If you want to lean out, eliminating carbs will do the trick
Initially, you may notice an energy change on a low to zero-carb diet, which we will discuss later in this article.
However, there have been times when this diet gave me a significant energy boost. The times when this diet plan didn’t energize me were primarily because I was working extremely long days in conjunction with the detox.
Monitor your energy levels whenever you decide to change your diet, so you can better understand how your body functions.
Some people genuinely thrive off of zero to few carbs. Others need a lot more. It always depends on how active you are as well.
I’m a very active individual, as you will notice from my other posts. In addition, I tend to work quite a bit, which means I require more food.
My Typical Diet: Low to Zero Carb
I make up for the lack of carbs by eating more fat and protein. These are very filling nutrients – especially the wholesome ones.
If you’re curious about what I actually eat, I tend to fluctuate between a few different meals, but here is a gist:
5 to 6 eggs with four pieces of bacon (turkey or pork). I add in scallions, chives, tomatoes, spinach, and mushrooms (sometimes)
Protein shake: 40g of protein, two raw eggs, two tablespoons of nut butter (almond or peanut butter), spinach, almond milk, and ice cubes
Ground turkey meat, one whole avocado, salsa
Salmon or scallops with avocado
Salads with onions, tomato, mushrooms, bell pepper, cucumber, pine nuts, salmon, and avocado
6 Benefits of Eating Low to Zero Carbs
1. Lean Out
Your body will lean out – some will experience more physically dramatic changes, others more minor.
Though I am already slim and lean, my body broke through another barrier and became even leaner.
My muscles were harder, more toned, defined, and visible.
I lost additional fat on my body without even trying to lose it.
2. Energy
After a short period of not eating carbs, you will feel lighter and less sluggish, experience heightened mental clarity, and get tired less frequently.
If you implement zero to few carbs, your body will enter ketosis (only burning fat), and you will get hungry less frequently and experience more energy.
When I conducted a 21-day water fast, after about three days, I entered ketosis, and I no longer experienced hunger. That’s the beauty of cutting out carbs; if you’re frequently hungry, this will no longer be the case for you.
3. Skin
Cutting carbs will improve your skin’s health and appearance if you’re struggling with acne, allergies, eczema, psoriasis, or other skin ailments.
Whenever I conduct a detox and decrease my carb intake, my skin instantly improves – even if it already looks great.
4. Weightloss
If you’re trying to lose weight and you want to expedite the process, cut the carbs out of your diet.
I guarantee you will experience tremendous results (as long as your caloric intake is less than the number of calories you consume in a day).
We tend to overeat carbs, and tracking how many we eat can be difficult.
Once you remove them completely, it eliminates a large sum of daily empty calories.
5. Self-Discipline
My favorite of the six benefits that low to zero-carb diets will offer you is the self-discipline required to execute the diet plan.
Think about it; if you eliminate carbs from your diet, you’re eliminating:
Bread
Pasta
Snacks
Fruit
Sugary drinks
Dessert
Candy
Pastries
Sauces
6. Mental Health
When you’re consuming empty carbs, which are really just sugar, you can create brain fogginess and lethargy and decrease your mental clarity.
Removing or eliminating empty and less wholesome carbs detoxes your body and brain; it clears things up so you can think more clearly.
Every time I take a break from carbs, I am more productive, my sleep is of higher quality, and I have fewer rummaging thoughts.
Not All Carbs Are Bad, But Carbs Can Still Effect You
If you’re not eating carbs, you’re eliminating more than half of the typical American diet (outside of meat).
We love carbs and can’t get enough of them, so we struggle with many health issues, weight gain, and mental fogginess.
Not all carbs are unhealthy, but many frequently consumed are, or else we wouldn’t have as many health crises in our society today.
Eating Low Carb Is Easy
People think eating low-carb to no-carb diets is difficult, but they’re actually easy.
You just have to get past the initial phase (around three days – depending on your body composition), which could include cravings and hunger with the loss of carbs.
