If you want to take your health to the next level
7 Pharmaceuticals If you need medication for a specific medical condition, you got to do what you got to do. I will never recommend getting off medication pertinent for a person to function properly. However, if possible, I will encourage people to explore natural remedies in conjunction with their doctors’ prescriptions to wean off the medication slowly. I can’t recall how many doctors have tried to put me on medication for minor things. If I were to implement their list of medications, I would have a cabinet full of medications. So far, I’ve been functioning optimally without any medications they recommend. The body is a powerful mechanism that knows how to heal itself – especially when treating it properly through diet, nutrition, and proper rest. There are many natural remedies that can heal the body. My goal is not to utilize pharmaceuticals as much as possible. Not only are these substances unnatural, but they are hard on our internal organs, create dependency, and prevent the body from healing itself. #6 Soda This is directly related to number #5, but it is essential to call out since soda is heavily integrated into our culture. I stopped drinking soda during high school and never went back. The stuff is fantastic but a total waste of calories and loaded with sugar. #5 Sugar This delightful substance is in almost everything, not just sweets, so you’ll need to check labels to see how much sugar you’re consuming. Sugar is even in your salads (primarily the dressings discussed in #3). It’s in your Starbucks lattes, fast food meals, fancy dinners, chips, snacks, and everything else you eat – even fruit (though this sugar is much better for you). Is Fruit Okay? Fruit in modest amounts is 100% okay. Though it has plenty of nutrients (vitamins, minerals, and fiber), fruit is still sugar at the end of the day. Raw vegetables will always trump fruit benefits because they have less sugar. #4 Alcohol Whether you drink it mixed or straight, alcohol will inadvertently affect your body in one way or another. Cut it out and watch how it changes your body composition. Ever wonder why some athletes don’t drink at all? So they can have above-average performance and also keep their body in shape. Alcohol slows you down and adds weight in one way or another. #3 Sauces These will get you. People don’t consider how many extra calories these add to their meals. The sugar, fat, and processed ingredients frequently found in sauces insidiously add up over time. #2 Bread If I could eat three things for the rest of my life, it would be salads (cause you can add anything to them, and they taste amazing) and bread with butter. But I don’t eat bread in my regular diet unless I’m trying to put on weight. Bread isn’t sour for the body – unless you have a tolerance – but it can add unnecessary bloat and calories to the diet. #1 Processed Foods What are processed foods? Anything not in its natural state includes most foods we eat today since we’re looking for fast, convenient time savers.
