You won’t notice much for a while
The Crypto Example
Despite the masses on the crypto train looking for a quick buck, the proper way to invest in crypto is to play the long game. As long as technology moves forward, it’s inevitable that crypto yields fruit. Because of the volatility, many people invest in crypto emotionally.
Ignore The Emotional Aspect of Long-Term Investing
Long-term investing can be filled with consistent disappointment due to the ups and downs of the markets.
You constantly will experience loss throughout the years, which is why you should not look at your investments too often, or you might become discouraged.
Keep your emotions out of investing; when you do this, you will always win because you will avoid making rash decisions that many emotional investors make.
Will The Market Go Back Up? I Don’t Know & I Don’t Care. Are You An Emotional Investor?
Emotional Investors:
Try to time the market.
Move their money around often.
Watch the stock market too closely.
Get emotional about bull and bear markets.
Focus on short-term returns instead of long-term returns.
Avoid these tendencies of emotional investors, and your money will successfully grow over the long haul.
“Leave it alone” is often the best policy for long-term investing unless you need to rebalance your portfolio.
Compound Interest Takes A Minute To Produce Results
Warren Buffet started investing at age 11 and consequently became a millionaire at age 30. He didn’t become a billionaire until he reached his 50s (when compound interest took a skyrocketing upward path).
Warren Buffet didn’t see astronomical results (billionaire status) until decades later. Though he became a millionaire at age 30, he didn’t become a billionaire until his 50s.
It’s not most people’s mission to become a billionaire, but his story exemplifies how essential time is to long-term investing. Notice it took Warren Buffet over two decades to become a millionaire, but it also took the same amount of time to become a billionaire.
Once you reach one milestone, the next milestone is easier. Compound interest is magical because it produces most fruit faster after reaching a certain point. But that point comes after you’ve had skin in the game for a while.
The intelligent investor understands one thing: this is a long game. To play to win, you got to stay in the game at all times. The stock market rewards those who are faithful.
