Many incarceration institutions don’t want educated inmates
Recidivism is the act of a person repeating an undesirable behavior after they have experienced negative consequences of that behavior. According to Wikipedia, it is also used to refer to the percentage of former prisoners who are rearrested for a similar offense.
One of the primary causes of recidivism is inmates’ lack of education and resources within correction centers. But if you think about it, most incarceration institutions have no incentive to prevent inmates from coming back because it’s so damn profitable.
