Do food and sugar dominate your life?
Maybe this person is you as you reminisce in old pics. Either way, we’ve all come across the people who continue to improve with time and those who continue to gain more weight with time.
If you’re struggling with mental health (which, let’s face it, most of us are), relationships, family, careers, or other issues, eating your way through it is not the move.
By doing this, you are only cultivating an environment that will potentially create more health issues or elevate your risks of contracting health issues.
Most People Are Emotional Eaters
Emotional eating occurs when you utilize eating to amplify, mitigate, block, hide, or ignore a feeling.
Many people eat when bored, nostalgic, lonely, sad, stressed, scared, anxious, angry, happy, confused, insecure, etc.
Emotional eating can occur with happy, negative, and neutral emotions.
Food is centric to society; it’s integrated into everything, making establishing boundaries more complex.
How To Decrease Emotional Eating
Do something physical to keep your mind busy.
Dive into your feelings, sit with them, and be present.
Avoid partaking in food when you’re dealing with powerful emotions.
Get busy. Do something productive such as making progress on a goal.
Why Is Obesity A Thing?
Americans live in abundance, and many of the western world populations are.
We now have shows like “My 1,000 Pound Life” because some people don’t know how to stop eating.
We’re addicted, and food is killing us.
Diet is at the root of many health issues. No, it is not the only reason, but how we eat does determine much of our health status.
Just as people can eat their way to health, people can also eat their way to death – as many do daily.
Self Care Always Starts With You
Recently I told a dear friend, who always held their health to a high standard, to remember to take care of themselves. They were so busy caring for their kids and new partner that they forgot about their health.
People are overweight because of their choices. The way to transform your weight is to do the opposite of what you’ve been doing.
I enjoy sugar, burgers, and food in general. But if I ate whatever I desired all the time without boundaries and the implementation of physical activity, I would not experience my current level of health.
You have to desire good health more than the unhealthy food that is constantly tempting us.
Change Your Habits For You, But If You Can’t Try This
I’ve had conversations with people I love about their habits. As I got older, I became more accepting of others’ habits because that’s all I could do.
Codependency can’t serve me.
But, if you struggle to make healthier habits for yourself, do it for the people you love so you can stick around longer.
No. Eating healthy doesn’t guarantee perfect health, but it certainly increases your chances of experiencing better health.
Self-discipline with your health carries over into other areas
Food & Sugar Will Never Dominate Me
I’m never going to allow sugar and food to dominate me; this is how I see it:
These are harsh words, but I frequently asked myself when I struggled with emotional eating, “Why would I allow a non-living thing to dominate me? This kind of behavior is pathetic.”
I gave up soda and several other edible things in high school. And I’m willing to make sacrifices to experience my best levels of health continually.
Yes, you read that correctly
