A mindblowing concept from “The Untethered Soul”
Any time you’re having trouble with something, think of death.
Death challenges us to live at our highest level. Why wait until everything is taken from you before you learn to dig down deep inside yourself to reach your highest potential? ‘If with one breath all of this can change, then I want to live at the highest level I’m alive. I’m going to stop bothering the people I love. I’m going to live life from the deepest part of my being.’
Take a moment to look at the things you think you need. Look at how much time and energy you put into various activities. Imagine if you knew you were going to die within a week or month. How would that change things? How would your priorities change? How would your thoughts change? Think honestly about what you would do your last week? What a wonderful thought to contemplate. Then ponder this question: If that’s really what you would do with your last week, what are you doing with the rest of your time? Wasting it? Throwing it away? Treating it like it’s not something precious? What are you doing with life? That is what death asks you.”
Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer | Chapter 17: Contemplating Death
Interpretation
Wow! What a conversation we have here about death. After reading this from the book, “The Untethered Soul,” my whole mindset, energy, and perspective changed on how I will proceed with my life, relationships, and goals.
Contemplating death makes us more kind, thoughtful, loving, patient, harmonious, powerful, perfect, whole, and at peace. Our interactions with people become more graceful – even when our old selves might respond differently. We approach our goals and life purpose with more intention.
Before responding to a situation with negative energy, impulsivity, or a lack of purposeful intention, pause and reflect on the concept of death.
Death will foster a stoic persona, maturity, and beautiful grace within your soul. It will also heal you and allow you experience a higher, more favorable, and whole life experience.
How would you live your life if you knew that death was near? How would you proceed with your relationships? How would you spend your time? Who would you spend your time with more often? Who would you spend less of your time with? How would your life transform? How might some of your unproductive habits and thinking patterns be eradicated?
Death has always been the greatest teacher. How will you allow it to teach you? Don’t wait until it’s too late. Now is the time to change. Now is the time to implement. Now is the time to take action. Now is the sign you’ve been seeking to experience a higher life.
