Pair emotion with logic
Once they stopped caring about it and focused on doing what they loved, they claimed money followed them.
But they’re currently earning an average income.
Moreover, they don’t have any sound investments, an emergency fund, and they don’t invest in financial knowledge.
Many people say these exact words:
“I don’t care about money.”
“I’m focusing on what I love, and the money will follow.”
That’s great and all, but if you don’t have an emergency fund, investments, and financial knowledge, you’re going to be broke whether you bring in money or not.
Those who don’t have investments burn their cash.
Money will make its own plans for those who don’t have plans for it.
Those who don’t have emergency funds get burned by inconveniencing emergencies.
While Pursuing Your Passion, Where’s Your Income?
Some people can quit their traditional jobs or switch careers without much financial blowback because they have savings or an extremely low-cost living situation.
However, most people don’t fall into this category because they spend more than they earn and have expenses exceeding their income.
If you want to drop everything and pursue your passion, do it!
But do so responsibly, so you can make financial progress in the process.
Don’t place yourself in a tight financial spot because of feelings.
I Walked Out On A Job Unscathed & Unworried
Years ago, I walked out on a job and didn’t have any “traditional” income for six months.
However, I have an emergency fund that covered me during those six months, as if I had never lost that income.
Most people who leave their jobs do so emotionally and without much thought put behind it.
When I was jobless, someone told me I needed to get another job quickly, but in truth, they were the ones that needed to get a job quickly because they had no savings.
It’s True; Money Will Follow
I’ve invested time, energy, and effort into my deepest passions, and eventually, money followed.
However, it was a prolonged process, and it took time to build that momentum. If you’re willing to be patient, then money will follow you.
Now and then, you come across people who monetize immediately; it’s more than possible, but for most people, it takes time. Quick monetizers are anomalies.
Something I did not want to compromise was my financial health and goals. Hence, while I pursue my goals, I will ensure I have other sources of income that can help me stay on track financially.
