Never get too arrogant to save money
Can I Have A Second Discount?
I recently took my car in for some cosmetic repairs. Before I went to drop it off at the spot, I had a clear price range in mind that I was willing to pay. Once I got my estimate, I quickly ask, “Do you have any discounts to apply?” The people said yes. After they gave me a discount, I replied, “Thank you so much; this price is much better. Do you also have a military discount?” They told me I could add that, too.
$500 Can Transform Into Tens of Thousands
I ended up saving about 500 dollars that can now be invested. It might not sound like much savings to some people, but an additional $500 invested annually for 20 years could reach $30,000+ at a minimum interest rate of 10%.
Every time you ask for a discount, take the extra money saved and invest it. Not only will you develop an invaluable habit, but you will then create a more significant nest egg for yourself from money that could’ve been gone forever if you didn’t ask the question, “Can I have a discount?”
Stay Humble To Continually Elevate Financially
If I didn’t ask, though, I would not have saved hundreds of dollars. Even with financial resources, it doesn’t mean you should never ask for a discount.
Remember, the less you spend, the more you keep.
The more you keep, the more financially independent you will be.
The more financially independent you are, the more time you have to focus on the activities, priorities, and people you value most.
Discount List
In the article, “Don’t Be Afraid To Ask For A Discount – Even If You Have Money,” I mention several types of discounts that are frequently available if you ask, which include:
Local discount
Senior discount
Student discount
Business discount
Affiliate discount
Military discount
Birthday discount
Chaplain discount
New resident discount
Teacher /Educator discount
There are also many programs and business-specific research. I recently learned that some states offer cash bonuses for new homebuyers if you attend a class and sign up.
Multiple avenues exist to earn back some of the money you’re already planning to spend.
Ask for a discount, and then another discount – especially for large purchases.
