The places I wanted to visit kept piling up, but progress still needed to be
Granted, I was fortunate to spend much of my childhood exploring, but then I stopped once I started working full-time and got sucked into a rote lifestyle.
After a while, I became afraid to travel because I strayed away for too long – similar to people who never leave the house; after a while, they can fear what might happen if they leave their house.
The places I used to be excited about visiting no longer excited me. I couldn’t see myself visiting these places.
I stopped significant international travel for so long that I started to believe travel was no longer a passion or something I desired to do. Even though I had no debts and saved, I never felt I could afford to travel.
This can happen when you stray from a passion for too long or start to believe the excuses you tell yourself. Moreover, if you consistently don’t think you can make a dream a reality, you kill the dream – even though every possibility always exists for you.
After exiting some unhealthy circumstances, I was able to revive my passion for travel, but it happened over time, and I had to start small (domestically).
The funny thing is, when I took finally leaped (international travel), I extended my travel adventures for two more weeks and ventured to other places I had never been to and also desired to visit again.
Now I travel so frequently or in large quantities at once that I have to take extended breaks to recover.
I’ve learned through my recent traveling that there is never a need to wait.
The longer you wait to travel, the bigger and stronger your excuses become.
A guy recently asked, how can you afford to travel for such lengthy periods?
My question back was, how can you afford not to?
If you want to travel, get creative and make it happen (execute). I know another guy who earns an average income and travels the world.
Don’t wait until you’re older to travel. Do it now. Procrastination is the enemy.
How To Set Yourself Up Financially To Travel
If you need to save money while traveling, bring others to split fares and room accommodations with.
Work extra for a short period.
Spend less on things that don’t matter to you.
Rethink unnecessary large purchases.
Avoid spending more than you earn.
Conduct research to educate yourself more on travel deals.
And continue to explore options until you find a solution. If you have kids, don’t allow this to prevent you from traveling either. Make it happen.
