There is no excuse not to maintain a physically active lifestyle when traveling
Maintain as much muscle as possible.
Be consistent with my workouts.
Does Traveling Affect Muscle Retention?
I used to avoid traveling as frequently, and one of the critical reasons for that was that I was unsure how I would get in all of my meals and maintain muscle.
However, I soon realized it was just another excuse not to travel. I’ve been on the go for the past three months, and my muscle retention is surprisingly solid.
Traveling can decrease your muscle size to an extent (this doesn’t happen to everyone) – especially if you’re not taking supplements and don’t have access to the same equipment you usually do.
But why delay travel because you fear losing muscle? You can always come back home and make up for any losses.
The key to muscle retention while traveling is eating. You got to eat so your muscles have something to consume.
There Is No Excuse Not To Stay Active When Traveling
For everyone else who is a gym rat but not necessarily into the weights, we are all well aware that our workouts don’t have to take place in the gym 100% of the time.
I’ve had my fair share of surprise gym shutdowns due to bad weather or holidays. What did I do? I got my workout in at home or outside.
I’m now a firm believer that there is no excuse not to get in your workouts, stay physically active, and eat healthy while traveling.
Whether in a hotel, Airbnb, trailer, van, car, boat, or camping, you can get a workout anywhere.
It’s all about whether or not you will do it.
What About Food?
There have been times when I had trouble accessing the ability to cook my own meals, which can cause some anxiety when I’m traveling.
But I’m learning to go with the flow, stay flexible, prepare as best as possible, and adapt when needed.
When I am unable to cook my meals, I seek out healthy options and healthy restaurants that offer options that have few additives and include nutrient-dense meals:
Salads
Boiled eggs
Protein bars
Protein bowls
Discipline CAN Follow You To All Of Your Travel Destinations
Many people give up their healthy habits and active lifestyles when they travel because it’s easy to give them up temporarily.
Travel often equates to relaxation and a break from your reality, but travel doesn’t have to mean you abandon all of your hard work back home.
Take your discipline habits to all your destinations and watch how much more productive your travels are.
