many diseases. Many crowd over to cardio machines because they believe losing weight is the answer. Don’t get me wrong, working out your heart is healthy, but you can also work out your heart with intense resistance training workouts.
Do you ever wonder why you gain the weight back after losing it with primarily cardio? It’s because you don’t have enough muscle, and when you have little muscle, what’s left? Fat. The less muscle you have, the higher your tendency to accumulate fat.
I’ve been lifting weights since I was 11 and joined the gym at 14. I did cross country for a while and finally gave up cardio to primarily focus on weight lifting, and it’s reaped the best benefits. I still walk daily, but my primary cardio comes from resistance training.
I’ve never been overweight during my entire life – even though my family history indicates a high chance of being overweight.
Muscle is the key. It will keep you burning fat and calories throughout the day. It will allow more flexibility in your diet. And it will also bring you a higher quality of health.
