All you have to do is this one thing
Here’s what I do instead:
I buy whatever I’m craving. Yup; that’s right. I buy it and bring it home with me.
When I get home, I put it aside instead of eating it.
Then, I think about how I will feel after eating the splurge item versus sticking to my diet. Naturally, I want to feel disciplined instead of giving into the craving. Thinking about the long-term benefit helps me stay focused on my diet.
The next time I’m having a splurge day, I allow myself to indulge in the saved treat. I frequently forget about the craving and indulge in something else, though.
I still buy the item, which acts as a pseudo dopamine release, but I save it for a future date. This works well for me. Maybe it can work for you, too. Leave it at the store if you feel you will eat the item after buying it. 🙂
