Everything life brings our way can be overcome
In one week, one of my friends lost a loved one and their romantic relationship, and one of their parents entered critical condition.
I live across the country and couldn’t be there for them as quickly as I would’ve liked.
As they packed up to drive and see their parent, I asked them, “Do you need me to order you an uber?”
Why should they be driving when they’re under extreme stress? But that was the question that brought the breakdown of emotion from my friend.
After we chatted and they vented, they finally accepted my uber offer.
They weren’t fit to drive, and I don’t know when they will be; for now, it’s time to grieve and manage the stress as best as they can. They told me that everything occurring in their life is too much to bear, and they can’t take much more.
I told them life never deals us a deck of cards we can’t play. It’s not going to get any worse from here; I have a feeling.
When Life Hands You Too Much To Deal With
Sometimes life happens all at once, and we feel our limit has been reached, but limits can also be breached.
I’m sure my friend never imagined they would experience such trauma in one week, but after my friend gets above water, they will come out stronger and on the other side of this situation.
Life only brings circumstances that we can bear; it will never put us in a situation we can’t overcome – no matter the severity. The choice is up to you whether you will seek victory or lie in wait for defeat.
If you’re facing a challenging situation today, take the time to grieve. But also reach out to trusted friends and family. Allow someone to be there for you; remember that nothing you face is too challenging to overcome.
You will come out of this if you believe you can. But you have to dig deep. I read something interesting today in “177 Mental Toughness Secrets of The World Class”…
“Champions know why they’re fighting […]. When the going gets tough, and the pain kicks in, average people back off from a goal or task. This is when the world-class really begins to fight. When they begin to feel physical or psychological pain, they go inside themselves and draw on their vast reserves of emotional power.”
What is the goal, task, or purpose that lies before you? Everyone has something that will require them to dig deep and forge ahead. Find your reason to push through the tough times.
Think Of All The Success Stories
We hear success stories about people who were not supposed to achieve the greatness they attained because of their past circumstances, but somehow they did it – against all odds.
What are your odds? We all have them, but a better question to ask ourselves is how we will beat our odds.
The odds are often stacked against us, but look at animals; they consistently find ways to adapt to the traumatic circumstances that the earth brings them. They adapt against all odds and find the most creative ways to survive and thrive.
