Learn to love and appreciate your natural face
I’ve been on a no-makeup journey for the past six years, including not wearing: foundation, eyeliner, or mascara. But I never was one to wear foundation, so my no-makeup journey really just means no eyeliner and mascara.
I can’t say I’ll never wear makeup again; I probably will. Eyeliner and mascara have a magical way of accentuating the eyes, which I love and appreciate.
My Struggle With Acne
My struggle with acne has seemed to be a life sentence. Though you probably couldn’t tell looking at my face now, it’s been one hell of a journey. Through it all, though, I made myself not wear makeup to cover it up. Despite asking taking its beating on my self-esteem, which I’ve built back up over the years, it also helped increase my confidence because I let my acne run its course (with treatment) without using makeup as an aid.
Makeup Dependency
Here’s the thing: I’ve seen so many women get to the point where they don’t know how to leave the house, hop on a Zoom meeting, go to the store, or attend a fancy event without makeup on. Many women get to the point where they don’t even love their natural faces and appearances without makeup.
It’s true: makeup can give you a false sense of confidence, but can you be confident without it?
If you’ve reached a point where you don’t feel confident without makeup on your face, this is the best opportunity to take a break from it. Learn to love your natural appearance without any face paint – even if you have scars, flaws, acne, etc., on your face. Your imperfections are what make you, you.
