Success Visualization Is The Key To Confidence
One strategy I learned from the book is called success visualization.
Whenever you’re not feeling confident, you’re feeling like a failure, or you don’t view yourself positively, quickly take a step back and practice the following exercise:
Write down all of the positive experiences in which you experience victory – no matter how big or small.
The first time the idea of this exercise came across me, I struggled to think of even one success example, but as I started writing, about 40+ victories throughout my life came to mind.
Naturally, I felt my self-esteem and confidence rise, and I started to feel better about myself. I had forgotten about all of these little moments.
Our list of our success could go on and on.
All of us have experienced and accomplished big and small victories, but we often forget about these moments. We also forget how unique and successful these victories make us in our own right.
Use The Exercise With Your New Goals
Whenever you are trying to reach a new objective. Feel the same emotions you felt when you experience victory.
Visualize yourself achieving your next goal with the emotion you feel from previous victories.
Practice this throughout each of your days, and watch yourself arrive closer to the finishline.
You Experience Failure, But You Are Not Failure
Maybe you failed a test. Maybe you’re failing at your job. Maybe you’re failing in your marriage. Maybe you’re failing at life.
Whether these are truths doesn’t matter. You are still not a failure. Failure is an occurrence, it is not a state of being.
Yet, we often forget this truth because we allow failure to define our self-image, confidence, and self-esteem.
Our Self-Image Will Define Our Success In Life
What is success?
“Success has nothing to do with prestige symbols, but with creative accomplishment (Maxwell Maltz, MD). No man should attempt to be successful. Trying to be a success in terms of acquiring prestige symbols and wearing certain badges leads to neuroticism, frustration, and unhappiness. Striving to succeed brings both material success and satisfaction, fulfillment, and happiness.”
What you feel and think about yourself is critical; for these beliefs define how far you go in life. You cannot succeed if you don’t believe in yourself and your endeavors.
Limiting beliefs limit our success, potential, and where we land in life.
Power up your confidence; power up your future.
Ever wonder why some people are more successful than others? It’s often due to their confidence and belief in themselves. They don’t focus on the acquisition of achievements, but instead, they invest their focus into being successful, whatever that looks like for them.
