Reading is the key to increasing your success and position in life
If you recommend a worthy book, I’m that girl that is gonna read it and have it ordered before the end of our conversation. Now, I have someone who reads book recommendations I receive to confirm if the book is worth reading. So far, there have been no letdowns.
Don’t Reject Book Recommendations
Usually, when my mother tells me to read or listen to something, I follow through. If I have someone in my life who is on the same level as me or higher and they recommend a book, I get it without hesitation. Why? Because when you’re learning, you’re growing and reaching new heights.
After you read a book that penetrates your soul and being, you’re a different person afterward. That’s how I feel about many of the books I complete. I don’t take reading for granted because education is the best avenue to elevate your life in a limitless way.
Rejecting worthy book recommendations from people who are wiser to you is imprudent; it’s the equivalent of throwing away a piece of your brain. I don’t think this statement is too extreme, either.
There have been far too many times after completing a book that my intelligence increased to heightened levels, impacting many areas of my life and the lives of those around me.
Reading is like digging for treasure and finding gold every single time. You can’t lose.
My Mother Paid Me To Read Books Until I Started Reading Too Many
My mother used to pay me $5 to listen to books and tapes on personal development, leadership, finance, and other positive topics. It got to the point where she stopped giving me assignments because it was getting too pricey.
I still laugh about it today.
My mother has dramatically influenced my personal development journey. I’ll always be grateful to her. For some odd reason, though she wasn’t given a decent childhood, she provided me with many enriching educational experiences outside of school to enhance and empower my mind.
My Reading Schedule: How I Read 7+ Books Monthly
I read anywhere from 7–15 books throughout the week. If I’m experiencing a hectic time, I limit my book intake to 6 or 7.
Usually, I limit my reading to small pieces (one section or a page a day), so I can tackle multiple books and subjects at once.
The aim is to read books that get me out of my comfort zone, impact my mind, habits, and life significantly, and wound me. The books that wound the soul are the ones we need most because those are the ones that cause the most internal growth.
