Who you are and always have been is awareness
How often have you allowed your emotions to influence your actions? We’ve all experienced emotional responses. The goal is not to allow this to happen too often. Embrace the stoic mentality, so you can avoid making emotional decisions that have long-term negative impacts.
Whenever you’re starting to feel anxious, stressed, sad, disappointed, irritated, or angry, try to step outside of the feeling and simply observe it objectively.
Realize the emotion is not you; it is simply passing by. We are not our emotions, but we tend to forget this because we identify too closely with our emotions, thoughts, and voices inside our heads. When you repeatedly recall that you are awareness, and awareness can never be a fleeting emotion, you are free and retain complete control of your mind and emotions.
