The power of movement
Too frequently, people slow down or stop moving when feeling under the weather.
Sometimes this logic is necessary to recover, but moving can help you recover quicker in many instances.
Whenever I’m feeling under the weather, which is rare, I try to avoid talking about it, focusing on it, or investing emotional energy into it.
Subconsciously, I know the more energy I invest into feeling and being sick, the more I will perpetuate the predicament and make it worse and last longer than it needs.
Not only do I rarely get sick, but in the random case I do, I recover at expedited speeds because of this mindset I adopt.
On top of that, I keep my thinking focused on positive thoughts and not on how I’m feeling.
If I’m feeling rough, I aim to engage in fun activities to help me feel better.
Activities To Help You Get Over It Faster
Walking – This low-intensity exercise is your best friend. Release endorphins and stress while doing this. You may not feel better immediately after the exercise, but you will over time.
Stretching/Yoga – You can’t go wrong with dynamic stretching, balance, and breathing exercises. Yoga is a powerful practice to help you get in tune with your body and heal it faster. It usually won’t hurt you in the process.
Light Weight Lifting – As long as I’m not dealing with any contagious symptoms, I will continue my weightlifting workouts to keep my immune system robust and build strength. If you’re building strength, it’s hard to focus on weakness. You might feel weak when you weight lift, but you’ll come out of the gym or work out stronger each time.
Cleaning – Believe it or not, cleaning up your surroundings can do wonders for both your mental and physical health. Not only does it increase environmental satisfaction, but it also gets you moving, which releases those endorphins. And during your recovery, it’s always more enjoyable when your surroundings are clean.
Personal Example
Right before I went doing some physical activities – along with sand duning in Abu Dabi – I got food poisoning or something similar. I couldn’t even stand upright.
Instead of staying in my hotel room and not continuing with the festivities, I proceeded on, took some mild medication, and enjoyed the adventures.
In most cases, I don’t take medication, but since this was a more severe case, I did, and it immediately spruced me along with fluids, electrolytes, and some other natural supplements. I’m thankful I didn’t return to my hotel room, though, or I would’ve missed out on a fun opportunity.
The Most Powerful Thing For Your Health
Your thoughts create your reality. The more positive your outcomes and experiences are, the more positive you are.
Most of us are wired to be negative. It’s almost unnatural to be positive, but the more positive you are, the less likely you will experience sickness.
