It’s free, powerful, 100% healing, and overlooked 99.99% of the time
Depression displaces the color in our lives and prevents us from living in the moment so we can capture the gift that presents itself to us daily: life itself.
We often forget how powerful and healing this one remedy is for our bodies, souls, spirits, minds, and life experiences. The more you do it, the healthier you are mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. The more frequent you do it, the more zest and color your life becomes.
The Remedy
Laughter. The remedy is laughing!
One of my siblings used to send homemade memes to me almost daily. Sometimes, it was crazy how many memes they sent to me and were able to create, but the one thing the memes always did was make me laugh.
I finally looked at some memes today for almost 30 minutes straight and just laughed. I shared some with my family as well, so we could laugh together.
During times of darkness, sadness, anxiety, stress, depression, and grief, it’s vital that we remember to laugh. It’s so easy to forget how f*cking good it feels. I was reminded of that today. So, I had to share the moment with you.
Why Do We Forget To Laugh?
When I think about this question, I think back to my own grief, moments of anxiety, and stress. It reminds me of how when I’m overwhelmed with that emotion, I often find it hard to escape, and when I do, I don’t think to laugh. I simply want to function.
Heavy-heartedness is its own problem. Life can take so much away from us at times that we close our hearts; it’s a defense mechanism to protect ourselves. But what happens is we end up over-protecting ourselves to the point where we never allow ourselves to experience the beauty that life also brings.
Grief
When it comes to grief, we’re not always ready to laugh until our heart experiences some healing, but once we’ve reached an okay place, we need to open our hearts again to experience joy. The people we love that leave us would want that for us, and I know if I left this planet, I would want those grieving for me to experience some relieving joy.
What Makes You Laugh?
What makes you laugh? A friend, family member, dancing, comedies, doing a particular activity? Whatever it is, do more of it. The more you laugh, the better your life tends to be.
Laugh more. I promise it will make you feel better.
