We Wait
Poetry
Wait and wait
We wait and wait
Hoping for that perfect someday
That’s somewhere off far away
–
We wait and wait
Hoping that our waiting satiates our pain
Hoping that our patience eradicates our hope for gain
Hoping our sacrifice creates something beautiful but not vain
–
Waiting is what we do
Waiting is what we live for
We wait and wait
Putting off the good
Till we’re old and can barely move
–
We wait until our bones are dry
We wait until it’s too late to cry
We wait until our soul has died
We wait until we envy the babies that are made tonight
–
We wait until we are no more
We wait until there is no desire and nothing in store
We wait until it’s too late
And this… is our one… true mistake
–
Stop Waiting.
