And we’re still going strong over here
Not going to lie; there are times I do miss soda – especially Dr. Pepper, which I didn’t fall in love with or really like until I stopped drinking soda.
Unsure how that works.
Anyways, I gave it up, along with most other sugary drinks. On the regular, I drink water and unsweetened teas and coffees. I will have a sugary drink every now and then, but I do so sparingly because I usually prefer to eat my sugar calories versus drinking them.
Why Did I Give Up Soda Permanently?
My fifth-grade teacher drank half a gallon of soda multiple times daily.
Granted, it was diet, but still, it was unsightly.
Other teachers would guzzle the real thing. Observing many teachers doing this was such a visceral experience that the memory never escaped.
I never witnessed people who drank so much soda; I’m still baffled by people who drink so much of it today – considering it is one of the worst drinks to consume on planet earth.
“Soda is not good for a person’s health because it contains lots of sugar.
Consuming too much soda may lead to weight gain, diabetes, and cardiovascular conditions.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) , most people in America consume too many added sugars, which can lead to health problems.”

Another consequence of drinking too much soda is expedited tooth decay.
Anything loaded with sugar is never a good thing to consume frequently.
I gave up soda because not only do I not want to drink my calories, but sugary drinks are not something I want as part of my regular diet – especially ones that are essentially toxic to the body. There are no apparent benefits of sugary drinks.
Things I Frequently Drink Instead
Hot teas
Black coffee
Plenty of H2O
Apple Cider Vinegar (tiny amounts)
The Begining Of My No Soda Challenge
I don’t remember it being too complex of an exercise, but I did experience cravings.
The best way to tackle sugary cravings is to eat nutrient-dense foods, maintain low-stress levels, stay physically active, keep your mind occupied, and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
Soda can not hydrate your body under any circumstance. Don’t fool yourself into believing it can. If anything, all it does is exasperate your need for hydration.
After about 21–60 days of excluding something from your diet, the cravings dissipate more or less. It might take a bit longer if you consume something in high amounts.
