No need to abandon everything
BREAK!
We all could use one. Most people are too busy and juggling too many obligations and responsibilities, which leaves us burnt out, stressed out, anxious, and ready to dip out on anything that exerts more energy than necessary.
Once vacation rolls around, the food, the desserts, the alcohol, and total relaxation vibes kick in. The routine is thrown out the window.
Ever wonder why you or others come back from vacation a little bit heavier or bloated? It’s because of routine abandonment. As a culture, we tend to abandon our routine whenever vacation rolls around.
If it’s a beach trip, we try to shed a few pounds before we go. Then we get on the trip and live it up. Then we get back and realize we need to lose more weight again. It’s a continuous up-and-down cycle that is entirely self-inflicted.
The best thing to do is to continue working out. Don’t ever stop.
When I Vacation, I Workout
Okay, I take that statement back. Sometimes I choose to completely take a break from working out on vacation, but often, I still get some workouts in. I may not work out as often, but I still make it happen because I realize that working out will:
Maintain my physique
Keep my energy levels high
Maintain my physical strength
Keep my immune system strong
Improve my mental health and awareness
Keep my metabolism working to my advantage
Offset any negative dietary changes; keep the bloat and weight gain to a minimum
Why Should I Continue Working Out On Vacation?
Vacation is not only about relaxing. It’s about caring for yourself to feel more restored, vibrant, healthy, and energetic while on vacation and when you return. Believe it or not, working out will make your entire body feel like a brand-new miracle.
Working out provides many health benefits for our bodies in the short and long term. People who stay active on vacations experience more, enjoy themselves more, and maintain higher energy levels throughout the trip.
When you maintain a partial routine on vacation, it helps you have a more productive trip; it also prevents you from having to adjust so harshly when you come off vacation.
Too often, we abandon all of our routines and set ourselves up for a rude awakening when we get back to reality.
Keep The Workout Fun & Quick
What does working out on vacation look like? It’s different for everyone. It might look like a 30-minute workout at the hotel gym, a walk or run on the beach, a bike ride, a long walk in the city, a workout class, hiking, golfing, laser tag, paintball, bowling, swimming, playing sports, etc.
Don’t do any workouts that aren’t fun while you’re on vacation. Focus only on activities that are easy, fun, and bring you joy.
