I thought the person’s response to me not having my notifications turned on was a bit extreme and super negative, but to each their own.
Thankfully the people in my life don’t have one person they can call upon.
Yes, I keep my notifications off 99.9% of the time. I don’t get banners or alerts; I don’t hear sounds; my phone even auto-rejects most calls, but it’s how I stay highly prolific and maintain a heightened sense of focus.
Unfortunately, most people’s lives are managed by notifications, alerts, breaking news, their phones, social media, and the internet.
How do you ever break past a mediocre level of productivity if you manage your entire life this way?
You don’t.
Even if you are productive, you’re nowhere near the level of productivity you could be if you changed your methods.
I refuse to believe I will have blood on my hands because I don’t have my notifications turned on, and there was no way I was going to allow that comment to somehow affect my mental or manifest itself.
That’s the other thing about notifications..too many people fear they will miss something big if they don’t always have them on – robbing themselves of their most valuable asset: their time.
Learn to function without your notifications. Life is better.
You can set your phone to allow yourself to be reachable by emergency contacts in the case of an actual emergency. And let’s face it; emergencies don’t happen too often.
