It’s okay if your first book is 10 pages
If you want to publish a book but find the task daunting, I will blast that fear away for you. First off, I’m not sure who came up with the idea that all books need to be x pages long; this is entirely untrue and misleading.
You are the writer.
As long as you’re self-publishing or working with a flexible publisher, you choose how long you desire your books to be, meaning your books can be ten pages or 1,000 pages long.
Sometimes, it helps to start with smaller books and eventually graduate to a more significant book – if this is the direction you even want to move to because some prefer writing shorter pieces.
One of the books I’m reading now is a short read, but it’s one of the most powerful books I’ve read to date, called, The Silence: What It Is, How To Use It. It’s a 70-page book and has 20 reviews. Yet, I’ve already recommended the book to numerous people and included it as a part of my daily reads. It’s not long, and the back of the book is filled with exercises.
I’ve also read many other shorter reads filled with much valuable or entertaining content. If you have ten pages of your book done, publish it. Make each chapter its own book. When you complete writing all the chapters of your books, you can publish a new book with all ten chapters or make your book a boxset. The options are unlimited.
The goal is to hit “PUBLISH.” Don’t wait for the perfect circumstances or for the perfect words to come together in perfect timing. Execution is always the best method to make progress – especially as a writer.
The good news is that as long as you continue writing, your content will improve as long as you genuinely try to do so.
