Quit them now to switch up your financial outcomes
I’m a woman of color.
Past generations didn’t invest in education.
I didn’t have close financial experts to help me figure sh*t out.
I didn’t come from an upper-class or wealthy nuclear family unit.
I never learned about personal finance in the private or public school systems.
Previous generations in my family didn’t come from wealth. Both parents grew up in poverty.
However, something I did have was access to knowledge and the opportunity to do better with money. Though my parents were still figuring shit out with their own finances, they introduced us to personal finance through books (and this is knowledge I still carry with me today).
I always strove for financial independence; it was a goal and a mindset.
Living within my means, not living paycheck to paycheck, consistently investing/saving, and consistently financially educating myself have always been priorities.
Excuses are the enemy, and I refuse to allow them to impact my financial circumstances negatively.
What’s Your Financial Predicament?
Low income
Too much debt
Constant overspending
Living paycheck to paycheck
Constant financial fear and anxiety
Behind on retirement, investing, or savings
Whatever it is you’re financially going through, what has been your excuse for not changing your situation?
Many don’t believe they have the power to shift their situation. Others believe there is no hope because their situations are too dire to overcome.
Paralysis is a thing. People get financially stuck all the time, and it can seem overwhelming. I felt similar feelings when I was earning below the US poverty level.
What did I do? Tiny action steps. I continually invested in my financial education and took the necessary steps to increase my income and live within my means. Moreover, I consistently found a way to invest despite my financial predicament.
There Will Never Be A Valid Excuse For Financial Failure
Everyone has the opportunity and power to improve their financial situation. No matter how difficult it might be. For some, it may take longer than others to improve their situation, but it’s possible (even when it seems impossible).
Both my parents came from extreme poverty but somehow magically found a way to escape it by having a vision for their lives.
If You’re Repeating Financial Failures
An addiction is just a pattern. Most people are addicted to financial failure, which is why most people can’t cover a $500 expense, go to their graves in debt, and live above their means.
Most people don’t have healthy relationships with money, and this pattern is consistently perpetuated through media and societal messaging.
“Everyone lives this way, so why should I live differently?”
Is living financially bound really the way to go?
If you desire different financial outcomes, switch up your pattern. It’s all within your power.
