Making the travel destinations of your dreams affordable
I didn’t even know this was a thing until my travel partner introduced me to the concept.
It’s like you’re living in the country in a regular apartment or home.
It’s similar to Airbnb but runs like a hotel.
2. Use your travel rewards credit cards to earn cash or points back.
If you’re already going to spend money, why not get some of that money back double, triple, or even quadruple?
If you don’t have a travel credit card and are about to do extensive traveling, this is the best time to get one.
3. Travel with a buddy or group to split the costs.
You will want to make some trips by yourself, but for the other trips, if you don’t mind being around other people, this is a pristine opportunity for you to save some extra bucks by traveling with others.
You can save some major bucks when you travel in groups.
4. Cook and buy your own food.
If you’re doing a cruise or staying in a hotel, leverage the food with your travel packages instead of eating out for each meal.
Choose one meal to eat out daily, so you can save more.
I often buy my own food and even bring protein bars or protein powder when I travel for when I’m on the go.
It all comes in handy and prevents me from spending more than I need to when I’m only a little hungry.
5. Leverage your friend’s genius.
My travel partner is a wiz at finding deals, discounts, and travel packages. I lean on them to help save money, which comes in handy for month-long (or more trips)
If you’re not a travel wiz, travel with someone who is, or take the time to conduct your research. If you look long enough, you will find more deals than ever imagined.
6. Save in advance.
Many people end up going into debt before they travel because they don’t save in advance, but if you plan, you can set a budget and have all the cash flow you require for a trip.
7. Stop buying souvenirs.
A friend asked me to bring them back souvenirs, and I completely forgot what those even were because I stopped buying them so long ago.
Only buy what you genuinely desire and care about.
Don’t buy a souvenir just to say you went somewhere; buy things that are meaningful and add value to your life.
You don’t always need proof you went somewhere. Often, memories are sufficient.
8. Consider ALL modes of transportation.
If you’re traveling to multiple countries, consider trains, buses, and ferries to get you to other places instead of flying.
It’s often far cheaper than a plane ride and comfortable.
9. Explore cities for free.
You don’t require a tour guide for every adventure.
Use google to search up activities, history, and itineraries that you can embark on your own.
It’s also more fun and adventurous and entails fewer rules; it doesn’t get any better.
10. Everything doesn’t have to be luxurious and five-star.
There are many more than acceptable accommodations when you travel.
Be flexible with transportation, living, food, and other accommodations. Less is more.
