Illegitimate excuses
A friend of mine probably has about 50–100 pounds of fat to lose to reach their ideal weight. Not only do they keep me up to date on their progress, but also when they’re splurging. Too many times, they will send me a text that reads:
Yolo, I’m getting my favorite drink.
Yolo, I’m ordering my favorite takeout.
Yolo, I’m going to try this new snack or dish.
My response is always the same: What about your weight loss goals and the new program you’re starting?
Don’t Expect Change Without Changing Yourself
You can’t expect a changed body if you don’t change yourself. What does changing the self mean? It means changing your habits. If you don’t change your habits, you will consistently reap the same results that have landed you where you are now.
People often apply the same “Yolo” approach for money and time. Some people travel too frequently on credit cards, which leads to racks of debt, or they continue wasting time on activities that add zero value to their lives.
What’s their excuse for living this way? “You only live once.” Though the statement is true, living without regard for your goals and with no discipline will always limit your results.
