Don’t overdo vitamins and herbs.
Herbal medications can mistakenly be perceived as safe because they are natural products. They may produce negative effects such as allergic reactions, rashes, asthma, headaches, dizziness, agitation, dry mouth, seizures, fatigue, tachycardia, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Severe side effects have also been reported (Source: Jama Network)
Since herbs have multiple uses and benefits, getting enamored and using far too many can be easy. I enjoy studying herbs, but if I’m not careful, my cabinets will overflow with herbs I don’t need.
The good news about herbs is there is quite a bit of overlap; one herb can satisfy multiple purposes, which alleviates the requirement to use more than necessary.
Determine Your Goals
Does one supplement contain multiple herbs in one?
What are you trying to accomplish by using the herbs?
Can you use one supplement for two or more purposes?
Do you need to take the full dosage of the herb?

The same applies to vitamins. Be sure you are not overdoing it with your supplements. The best way to get in vitamins is via food. Vitamin supplements are only supplementary and are never meant to replace a healthy, nutrient-dense diet.
Don’t just take a supplement because someone recommends it.
Less Is More
If I can use one supplement to cover multiple uses, I’m going for that option. Less than more.
There is always a new supplement out. I get recommendations for new supplements all the time, but for the most part, I don’t need them if I’m getting most of what I need from my diet and a few supplements.
A friend recently recommended I implement two new supplements. They were great, but I realized I didn’t need them, and the results weren’t conspicuous enough to continue.
Avoid Using Supplements Out Of Fear
If you’re taking supplements because you’re trying to decrease your percentage of contracting a disease or you fear if you don’t take the supplement, you will experience adverse effects; you should analyze this behavior and thinking.
I’ve been in situations where I started to believe if I didn’t take a supplement, my body would wreak havoc.
After taking an extended break from supplements, I realized dependence on any substance is primarily mental.
Be Financially Conscientious
Supplements and vitamins can add up. Many of them aren’t essential. So if you don’t need it, leave it out of your regimen and save significant dollars.
One supplement I used was helpful, but I realized I didn’t need it anymore, saving me $2,400 a year.
