What I’ve noticed throughout my writing career
Whenever I took a break from publishing, I kept writing.
Writing has been one of my most secure life anchors; I can always find a home here. Whenever I do stop publishing, I always maintain my writing voice with myself through privately writing.
Writers don’t have to publish their work, share it with the world, or be famous. They can write a million words in privacy and never publicize them.
A writer is someone who writes and always finds their way back to writing when they don’t write for a while. They don’t write for money. They don’t write for fame. They don’t write for validation. They don’t write to harm. They don’t write to win awards. They don’t write for any other reason except because they can’t not write. It’s their form of artistic expression.
There have been many times when I needed a break from publishing. But not many times when I needed a break from writing. That’s how I know, this is exactly what I’m supposed to be doing with one part of my life.
