Keep your promises to yourself
You decide not to go to the gym earlier in the day but tell yourself you’re going to hit up the gym later.
Some people follow through on their promise to themselves, but many don’t because the longer they go without getting that workout done, the easier it becomes for them not to go.
Your mind starts bargaining…
We can always go tomorrow.
One missed workout won’t hurt you.
You’ve been working so hard; you might as well take at least one day to relax.
And the list of excuses continues growing without much effort.
If you struggle with having the discipline to work out, then here’s what you should do:
Eat that frog FIRST, as Brian Tracy recommends.
Whatever you want to do least for the day, get it out of the way first, so the hardest part of your day is over early.
Not only will it make you more productive, but you will increase your happiness and confidence.
When we keep our word to ourselves, we believe in ourselves more, our self-worth increases, and we live with a more positive spirit and energy.
Key Takeaway: every day, eat the frog first. Get the hardest or least enjoyable aspect out of the way.
An associate asked if I was really going to get my workout in even though it was already past 10 pm at night, and I said, “Yes, why wouldn’t I?” Just because it’s late in the day doesn’t mean I need to wait until the next day.
