A lot of people have a lot of advice – even me. But the truth is, we’re giving advice that’s worked for us.
What has worked for someone else can work for you, but not necessarily. I’ve found a lot of success in free advertising more than paid advertising – even though I took a course on paid advertising and did find some success in it. But I realized that for my situation, I needed to combine different strategies to figure out what really works for my writing career.
I love learning from other writers because I can take bits and pieces of their advice, put it together, and create a new strategy that is different and works specifically for me.
Do something different.
Learn from others.
But figure out what strategies will work best for you.
You don’t have to copy everything someone else does.
Nothing is new under the sun, but how we execute and deliver content is different based on the person. Our uniqueness is sprinkled on everything we do.
Next time you read someone else’s advice, find a part of it (not all of it) that you can apply with another strategy you have experimented with or learned from someone else.
