Stay thirsty for knowledge
But they’re misguided.
We all have the capacity to intake and understand endless knowledge, but we must be exposed to it in some form, or it will remain unrealized.
Believing I already have all the knowledge needed to thrive in life within me would stifle my progress; this is also a perfect example of how destructive egotistical tendencies can be for our success.
I will never stop reading books, exploring, and seeking mentorship. Learning is critical if I want to tap into new levels of potential constantly.
We are powerful beings with infinite wisdom, which must be cultivated.
The three primary ways to cultivate wisdom are through people, experiences, and education.
1. People
My most painless lessons have come through the observation of others.
The best to learn hard lessons is by watching others go through them. It’s not fun to watch, but it provides the most value and prevents you from going through some of the hardest lessons.
Always learn secondhand and remain unscathed.
But sometimes, we need to be scathed to learn the lesson. Some of us are more stubborn, leading to learning the following way.
2. Experiences
Experiences and exposure are everything. The more we have, the more knowledge we gain. Some things can only be learned through experience.
A guy told me he spent his 20s and 30s traveling. I asked where he traveled to, and he mentioned a few states in the US. That’s just touching the cusp of traveling. I challenged him to travel internationally.
Living in six different states without knowing anybody was a positive experience for me and taught me things I could never learn and come to understand if I had stayed in the same place all my life. Furthermore, it taught me how to be self-sufficient.
My parents had us read personal finance books during dinner time. I didn’t understand most of the terminology until after revisiting the books repeatedly, but that taste of finance got me hooked and hungry to continue learning and exploring the subject.
What if my parents had never exposed me to personal finance?
3. Education
Why do most people remain ignorant about personal finance, healthy relationships, and emotional intelligence?
It’s not like these subjects are taught in schools; if they are, they’re not being advertised conspicuously.
On top of that, it’s easy to avoid unfamiliar subjects; remaining in mediocrity is addicting.
Books have been the primary determinant behind my personal, professional, mental, financial, spiritual, and emotional growth.
And here’s the thing about acquiring new knowledge. The more you acquire, the more potential you create within yourself.
Failure becomes more challenging the more invaluable knowledge you have. Proper knowledge can ensure your success; at this point, the choice is up to you whether you succeed or tumble.
Everything is within us, but we must expose ourselves to knowledge to find and utilize it.
